Katie Dougherty grew up in the eastern suburbs of St. Paul, in Mahtomedi, and is now attending her first year at the University of Minnesota. There she is studying Non-profit Strategic Communications and Art. In the past, Katie has volunteered with Students Today Leaders Forever on the university campus, worked with the Liemandt Foundation on neighborhood building Peace Dinners in North Minneapolis for many years, was a leader in high school volunteer clubs, and is excited to now be involved in Project Blackboard. Katie’s interests lie in community building, stronger education, art education, and children’s development and would love to find a career in the communication department of an organization where she can develop those interests. Alongside a love for philanthropy Katie considers herself an amateur artist, with a love for sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and chalk board art. When school isn’t taking over all of her free time she enjoys spending it in the art studio or planning camping trips to fulfill in warmer months.
